Job Title: Advancement Director

Job Summary:

The Advancement Director plays a pivotal role in supporting fundraising efforts for Friends of the University of California, a political action committee. FOUC's mission is to advocate for and support the University of California. This position involves providing organizing fundraising activities.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Donor Development

  • Engage with potential donors to encourage participation and contributions to the PAC.

  • Utilize PAC connections and public information (e.g., UC campus advisory board membership lists) to identify potential donors.

2. Fundraising Campaign Support:

  • Collaborate with organizational leadership to develop and execute fundraising campaigns.

  • Create and distribute fundraising materials to donors and supporters.

  • Monitor campaign progress and provide regular updates to the team.

3. Donor Communication:

  • Craft effective solicitation letters for PAC donations and PAC-sponsored candidate fundraisers.

  • Draft and send thank-you letters, emails, and other correspondence to donors.

  • Handle donor inquiries and requests promptly and professionally.

  • Assist in building and maintaining relationships with donors and supporters, including reminding PAC founders to engage with donors in various capacities.

4. Event Coordination:

  • Assist in planning and organizing fundraising events, including logistics, invitations, RSVP tracking, and donation tracking.

  • Coordinate event materials, such as Zoom links, briefing materials, guest lists, and information.

5. Database Management:

  • Redesign and professionalize the email solicitation system and website.

  • Expand the donor database through word-of-mouth connections and public information.

  • Maintain and update donor databases with accurate information.

  • Segment donor lists for targeted fundraising campaigns.

  • Generate reports and analyze donor data to identify fundraising opportunities.

6. Financial Recordkeeping:

  • Assist in tracking donations, contributions, and expenses.

  • Prepare financial reports and summaries for fundraising activities.

  • Coordinate with our accountants to ensure compliance with campaign finance regulations and reporting requirements.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in political science, business, or a related field (preferred).

  • Previous experience in fundraising, political campaigns, and administrative roles.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in using donor management software and the MS Office Suite.

  • Knowledge of campaign finance laws and regulations is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining donor confidentiality.
